In a dream of cold grey haze,
I wished in vain for long lost days.
Still searching on in endless night,
for a path of shining light.
Deep inside the veil of thought,
my human heart with darkness fought;
and out beyond the reach of sight
I saw the end of darkest night.
And then the dark would waver
and my eyes with tears would fill,
and so I'd find my savior;
if I didn't wander still.
And so alone I wandered,
bound still by pain and doubt,
and in the dark I pondered
and found what I couldn't live without.
The book lies open before me,
and now I've seen the right,
I know that I will someday find,
the path that's truly light.
